As of 23/12/20, we are no longer required to wear masks, and neither are staff.
However, staff will still be wearing masks if working within 1.5 metres of patients, and we encourage patients to wear masks if they feel more comfortable to do so.
The recent outbreaks on the northern beaches of Sydney are yet another reminder that we can’t allow ourselves to give in to social distancing fatigue.
Other infection control protocols are unchanged as they have been in place since March, that is:

In case you missed this, Nicole Spurrier has amended the rules about masks today to say that patients/visitors can wear cloth masks – you can read it here.
Staff seem to need to wear the disposable ones as far as one can tell. It is pretty fluid!
Thanks everyone for their understanding so far since these restrictions have come in.

Our QR code is now available to use. Happy days!
Everyone with a smart phone can download the mySA Gov app and use that WITHOUT needing to create an account.

At the bottom of the screen is a button with ‘COVID-Safe Check-in’. This wasn’t available on the iOS version until today, but is now there.
Otherwise, you can just get out your camera and without taking a photo, if you focus it on the code, a link appears that takes you to the check in.
It’s surprisingly easy, which is a good thing!
If you don’t want to use the QR code check-in system for whatever reason, we will record your details manually on a list. Please let front desk know if you don’t want to use the online check-in. That is your prerogative, but we need to record your attendance and contact details regardless for potential contact tracing purposes.

HOT OFF THE PRESS. **Disposable masks for staff and patients from midnight tonight**
If you don’t have any disposable masks, we have them in the clinic, we will charge a nominal amount per mask and donate it to the Movember fund.
Cloth masks aren’t enough according to these guidelines.
There will be the introduction of QR codes as well at some point soon for physio practices, which wasn’t the plan until this afternoon.
It is worth downloading the mySA GOV app if you have a smartphone. If you don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry, we will record analog as a backup. Pencil and paper.
There are some exceptions ie certain breathing difficulties, but if you just don’t want to wear one, it’s too bad!
It’s nice to be ahead of the curve, therapists have been wearing masks for 2 weeks now!
It is worth remembering that these restrictions, while annoying, are absolutely for the right reasons. We want to have a Christmas where we can be with family and enjoy ourselves.

Great news!
Following the announcement from SA Health yesterday, Adelaide West Physio + Pilates will be returning to normal hours on Monday 23/11/20.
With the announcement that gyms are reopening, it gives us confidence to return to all regular services, including exercise groups and remedial massage therapy. We are able to provide well in excess of 4 square metres per customer in the exercise area.
Our therapists will continue to wear masks during exercise groups and treatment sessions.
For our customers, wearing masks is not mandatory but recommended, in line with the SA Health recommendations.

We must all individually make sure that we are adhering to our best infection control practices.
The health and safety of our staff, customers and the wider community is our top priority.
We will continue to take all of the necessary precautions to minimise the risk of transmission whilst providing ongoing care to families as safe and appropriate based upon current Department of Health advice.

With the announcement regarding the ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown, we are going to be shut from tonight for the six days as per the government announcement.
Hopefully we will be reopening on Wed 25/11/20 for physio treatment 🤞
We have decided that even if we reopen next Wednesday, we will suspend the groups and remedial massage until the following Monday.
Please bear in mind, this is the best case scenario. These plans could obviously change depending on advice from SA Health.
We will update you via email once we know what is happening, and we will also give regular updates via our Facebook page.
If you have an appointment over the next few days, you can consider it cancelled. We are also contacting everyone individually that is booked in over those 6 days via SMS.
We will be in touch soon to reschedule any appointments – don’t worry, we won’t forget about you!
Look after yourself and your family.
Hopefully going in hard and fast turns out to make this less protracted than the Victorian experience.
Take care!!
