About Us

Find out about who we are, what we stand for, and meet our wonderful staff.

Adelaide West Physio and Pilates was opened in June 2009 by Russell and Tobey Mackenzie.

For the first 7 months, their newborn daughter, Lily was frequently seen sitting at reception, smiling at the customers.

Adelaide West Physio and Pilates has grown from humble beginnings to become a leading and innovative provider of Physiotherapy, Pilates and Exercise Therapy services.

Adelaide West Headache Clinic was launched in 2013 by Russell to signal his total dedication to helping people find solutions to headache and migraine problems.

We are proud to have continually attracted the best physio and support staff as a result of our culture and our values. And music. And coffee.

This might sound a bit fancy, but we have some core values that we uphold:

  1. To provide a reliable and professional service with the highest level of expertise, using the best current research, science and consensus.

  2. To help our patients reach their maximum potential of their physical health and quality of life by establishing and working towards the patients’ own goals.

  3. To make use of the power of education and self-management principles wherever possible.

  4. To provide our services in a friendly, supportive and caring environment, by enthusiastic practitioners, with acknowledgement of the importance of psychological health as part of total health.

In short, at Adelaide West, we love helping people of all ages get back to living the life they want to live.

– reducing medication needed to control pain

– reducing the time required for appointments at doctors or other health professionals

– getting back to all the things that they love in life

– feeling in control, resilient, empowered and healthy again!

In particular, we have two areas of interest – helping people find solutions for back and neck pain, and helping improve the lives of people with headache and migraine pain.

There are a few things that separate us apart from the average clinic.

  1. We aren’t part of a franchise – we don’t dance to the tune of a head office.  If you or one of our staff suggests an improvement to our practice, we can just do it!

  2. We value our continuing education very highly – we each do external courses throughout the year. Plus we have two sessions of one hour of continuing education each week for all our therapists – two hours each week to improve the outcomes for our customers and clients.

  3. You should feel really welcome to give feedback – good or bad, feedback is the only way that we know how we are doing as a clinic.

  4. Some of our services are quite special – our Headache Clinic, our McKenzie Method focus, our knowledge and passion for pain biology and novel approaches to persistent pain, our BestBalance classes and our PhysioStrong groups. If any of these are interesting to you, be sure to ask for more information from our staff.

  5. You can be sure that we are using the best evidence to back up our treatment methods – you won’t find us using outdated concepts, unnecessary or ineffective electrotherapy, or any ‘pseudoscience’ like many unfortunately do in the health space.

  6. We take the time – our appointments are purposely scheduled to give you the time that you need to explain your problem and so that we can really listen. You won’t feel bundled out of the door with a bunch of unanswered questions.

  7. We stay in touch to make sure that you have got the outcome that you were looking for – it is simply good customer service to follow up with you and make sure that everything is going well following treatment.

We understand that choosing a health professional to look after you and your family is a big deal.

We are confident that you will be happy with the service that we provide at Adelaide West Physio and Pilates, so we happily provide these 5 guarantees to you:

  1. We guarantee that you will leave your first session with a clear explanation and a written treatment plan.
  2. We guarantee expert individual attention from caring and highly qualified professionals.
  3. We guarantee generous appointment times. During your appointments, our attention is completely devoted to you.
  4. We guarantee the most friendly and helpful reception staff that you will find.
  5. We have a money-back guarantee – if you are not completely satisfied with the level of care* during your visit, you won’t pay a cent and you will get the next visit at no cost.

*Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee outcomes. We can’t guarantee your problem will be fixed. There are too many possible variables that are out of our control to be able to do that. In fact, if someone guarantees an outcome in health care or medicine, I would be questioning their honesty!

What we can guarantee is that we will give it 100% in our quest to help you, and guarantee that our service will be as good as it can possibly be.

If you write that you wish to exercise our guarantee on a feedback form or to one of the reception staff, one of the owners will contact you personally, refund any money that you paid for the session and give you your next session FREE.  This is our guarantee not only for the first session but for any session.

Guarantee – Terms and conditions

A claim must be made before your next service or consultation and up to a maximum of seven days after the service has been delivered.

To claim on the guarantee, it is a condition that the customer gives feedback and explains what they were not happy about for the purposes of improving our services

Any refund must be made in the same manner with which you paid for the service.

Free services offered under the guarantee cannot be redeemed for cash or products and are not transferrable or saleable.

The free service must be of the same value as the original service provided to you.

The free service must be provided within seven days of the original service, unless otherwise negotiated and agreed between all parties.

If the customer chooses to exercise their right to see a physio at another practice instead, the receipt for that service must be presented within two weeks of the original claim being made.

In the situation where the customer sees another physio at another practice, we will pay up to the value of the gap for the service they would have received at Adelaide West Physio and Pilates, ie not an amount that includes the Hicaps contribution by their health fund.

We would love to post a long list of satisfied customers and their comments so you can get an idea of how our customers feel about us.

Unfortunately, the advertising guidelines of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) prevent us and any other regulated health practitioner from doing so.

The best thing you can do is drop in to the clinic and talk with customers in the waiting room to get their opinion first-hand!

You can also check to see if there are any Google reviews.
